Depuis novembre 2013 et le passage du typhon Haiyan, la jeune Philippine Marinel Ubaldo multiplie les actions de sensibilisation aux dégâts causés par le changement climatique. Porte-parole de l’ONG Plan International, elle parcourt son archipel et milite pour l’adaptation des populations locales au dérèglement climatique et pour sa prise en compte par les gouvernements. Ses actions ont été entendues par l’actrice Marion Cotillard et par le réalisateur Christoph Schwaiger. De cette rencontre naît un documentaire, La jeune fille et les typhons, rappelant l’impératif de changer les habitudes au risque de voir d’autres typhons, plus violents encore, détruire des pays entiers. Marinel Ubaldo est présente avec Plan International à la COY11 et à la COP21.
