L'histoire implique de trois garçons. Ils étaient tous amis depuis qu'ils étaient petits. Un jour, quelque chose qui a changé toute leur vie était arrivé. Un des garçons appelé Morio, un garçon de six ans, est tombé de la balançoire quand ils jouaient. Il est resté inconscient pendant environ 12 ans dans un hôpital. Les amis et la famille de Morio ont tenté d'échapper à la tragédie et d'oublier cet accident. Les deux autres garçons, Mikihiko et Tomonari, avaient grandi et avaient presque oublié Morio. Finalement, Morio s'est réveillé et a repris conscience soudainement. Cependant, le quotient intellectuel de Morio est resté à 6 ans.
