Baby Annie is HIV positive and has been left in the clinic by her drug addicted mother. To prevent that she's deported to a home where they'd just wait for her to die, nurse Susan takes charge of Annie at her home. Two years later she plans too adopt her -- but suddenly Annie's mother reappears and demands her back. And under the law, Susan, as foster-mother, has no claim to the child.

A Place for Annie is a 1994 American drama television film directed by John Gray, written by Cathleen Young and Lee Guthrie, and starring Sissy Spacek, Mary-Louise Parker and Joan Plowright. It aired on ABC on May 1, 1994, as part of the Hallmark Hall of Fame anthology series. It was nominated at the 46th Primetime Emmy Awards for the Outstanding Television Movie, but the award went to And the Band Played On.
