Final Destination is an American horror franchise that includes six films, ten novels, and two comic books. It is based on an unproduced spec script by Jeffrey Reddick, originally written for The X-Files television series and was distributed by New Line Cinema. The films revolve around a group of people who escape a mass casualty event thanks to a visionary, who predicts they will die in it. By surviving, however, they also cheat Death itself since they disrupted its design to kill them in that event. As a result, Death kills the survivors one by one in gruesome and often comical Rube Goldberg–like mechanisms.
