It is a standalone sequel to the 2014 film Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, which was based on the children's book of the same name by Judith Viorst. It stars Eva Longoria, Jesse Garcia, Paulina Chávez, Rose Portillo, Thom Nemer, and Cheech Marin.
